The World – Four Years After September 11th
October 13-15, 2005
Krkonose Mountains, North-eastern Bohemia

No one can doubt that the tragic events of September 11 have had dramatic repercussions not only on the United States but the entire world.  The extent and significance of these effects was the topic of this annual conference retreat organized by the Civic Institute.

Speakers, including columnist, Dan Drapal, and Pavel Barsa of the Institute of International Relations at Charles University in Prague, analysed the growing presence and influence of Islam in Europe.  Dr. Roman Joch, Executive Director of the Civic Institute, drew participants’ attention to the nature and motivations of the newest enemies of Western Civilization.  For his part, Dr. Vojtech Belling of the Civic Institute analysed Western cultural trends that may increase the threats under examination.
