Constitutions of the CEE countries
A nation's Constitution
is the most fundamental document
upon which modern societies
are based. Here representative
members of a society set forth
as clearly as possible the fundamental
principles regulating the organs
of government.
Critical to the welfare of
all, the Constitution should
protect the rights of the individual,
while defining the powers necessary
for the State to carry out its
functions effectively.
By drafting legislation, the
representatives of future generations
apply these principles to an
ever changing historical situation.
In this way, as the Constitution
of the United States of America
proclaims, the first generation
of a society can "secure
the Blessings of Liberty"
for themselves and their "Posterity".
