EICEE's Civic Institute is organizing this major international conference in partnership with the National Endowment for Democracy, the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung and other groups.  Multiculturalism is a growing aspect of modern society, and its effect on democratic ideals and processes is of increasing concern.  The conference will review the experience of Western democracies with multiculturalism and discuss the growing presence of Islam in Europe in relation to the promotion of human rights and the rule of law.

Designed for Members of Parliament and the Diplomatic Corps, as well as representatives of the media and academia, the event will be held at the Senate of the Czech Parliament.  The speakers, coming from seven countries, will include British writer/philosopher Roger Scruton and John O'Sullivan of the Hudson Institute.  Mr. O'Sullivan, a former advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, was associate editor of the London Times and editor-in-chief of National Review.
