There is no question that the 28 independent nations that were for decades under Soviet domination cannot thrive politically and economically with foreign aid and investment alone. Economics is not enough; education in ethical, historical and philosophical ideas is crucial to building up the human capital upon which healthy society is based.

Ideas have consequences. Education is a greater force for social progress than propaganda was for distorting culture and communal relationships.

By enabling work to be done on location in the CEE region, your contribution goes further and produces a greater effect than if directed to projects in the developed West. The needs of societies in transition is far greater and so the impect of your contribution also has a greater effect.

You can help spread the principles that have helped to build free, just and democratic societies. The ideals of freedom and justice inspired the founding of our nation and much of our experience moves us to share and help younger democratic regimes be stable and strong.
